How to Check How Many SIMs Are Registered on Your CNIC (668 and PTA Website)
Two official methods
- SMS: type your 13-digit CNIC (no dashes) and send to 668
- Website: cnic.sims.pk (PTA)
- Limit: up to 5 SIMs per CNIC across all networks
A SIM registered on your CNIC is your legal responsibility. If someone misuses a SIM issued in your name, the trouble can come back to you. Students who have bought SIMs from street vendors, or given thumbprints for “free offers”, should check regularly. It takes less than a minute.
Method 1: SMS to 668
- Open your messaging app on any network.
- Type your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes or spaces, for example
3520212345678. - Send it to 668.
- You will receive a reply showing how many SIMs are registered on your CNIC with each operator.
A small charge (about Rs. 2 plus tax) applies.
Method 2: PTA website
- Visit cnic.sims.pk, the official Pakistan Telecommunication Authority service.
- Enter your CNIC number.
- Complete the “I’m not a robot” check and press Submit.
- A table will show the number of SIMs on your CNIC for each network.
Found a SIM you do not recognise?
- Visit the customer service centre or franchise of that operator with your original CNIC.
- Ask them to show the numbers issued on your CNIC.
- After biometric verification, ask them to block or deregister any number you do not own.
- Check again on 668 after a few days to confirm.
How to check the owner name of your SIM
Send a blank SMS to 667 from the SIM. You will receive the name registered for that number. This is useful if you are using a SIM that someone else registered.
Lost your phone or SIM?
Call your operator’s helpline from another phone and ask them to block the SIM immediately. Then get a duplicate SIM issued at a franchise with biometric verification. If your phone was stolen, you can also ask PTA to block the handset’s IMEI through the official process.
Safety tips
- Never give your thumbprint for “free SIM” or “lucky draw” offers from strangers.
- Do not share OTP codes or CNIC photos with unknown callers.
- Check your SIMs every few months.
