AIOU B.Ed Programmes Explained: 1.5-Year, 2.5-Year and 4-Year Options
Which B.Ed fits you?
- 16-year degree (BS, MA, MSc): B.Ed 1.5 years
- 14-year degree (BA, BSc): B.Ed 2.5 years
- Intermediate (FA, FSc): B.Ed 4 years (B.Ed Hons/ADE route)
A B.Ed from Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) is one of the most popular routes into teaching in Pakistan. Because AIOU uses distance learning, you can study while working or managing a home. The right programme depends on your current qualification.
The three main options
| Programme | Entry qualification | Duration | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.Ed 1.5 years | 16-year degree (BS/MA/MSc) | 3 semesters | Graduates who want a quick professional teaching qualification |
| B.Ed 2.5 years | 14-year degree (BA/BSc) | 5 semesters | BA/BSc graduates entering teaching |
| B.Ed 4 years | Intermediate | 8 semesters | Students who want to become teachers straight after intermediate |
Exact entry marks, specialisations and fees are listed in AIOU’s prospectus for each semester. Always check the latest version before applying.
