The School Education Department of the Government of Punjab Pakistan has launched a program of School Teacher interns ( STIs ) on the same pattern of higher education department to cope with the increasing needs of students and to fill vacant posts of teachers in the schools from Primary school level to the higher secondary school level.
The main focus of the School Teacher Interns or STI jobs is to provide an opportunity to such people who are looking for their career in the field of teaching and in this way of STI they will have a chance to practice and improve their skills in the field of teaching.
School education department Punjab Pakistan has issued the recruitment policy 2021-2022 for the School teacher interns or STIs. The STI or School teachers interns will be recruited on basis of the pure contract and this recruitment will be done in 6 phases. The STI job is to fulfill the vacant posts of teachers in the school education department of Punjab Pakistan.
As Government has been employing CTIs or college teacher interns, so at same pattern now school education department of Punjab has announced to recruit temporary teachers in school who will fill the seats of required teachers.
Instead of employing permanent teachers, STIs will be recruited and in the initial stage, this contract will be for 6 months. This is to keep in view that IMF has asked Government to reduce their burden of Government employs because permanent teachers are paid more and for the long term, benefits are given in the shape of allowances, gratuity, and pensions, that is why now school education department is recruiting seasonal teachers named STIs in the department to meet the need of growing students in schools and to fill the vacant posts of teachers.
Although the Punjab School education department has already a very high student-teacher ratio or STR which is 40 students per teacher.
The STIs will be employed during the academic session and their contract will expire after the academic session and for the next academic session, new recruitment will be done.
School teacher interns ( STIs ) will be recruited from the Primary school level to the higher secondary school level and their academic qualifications will be according to the classes they will teach.
Eligibility Criteria for STIs
The age of STIs will be considered as of the Secondary School certificate (SSc).
The lower age limit for male STIs is 20 whereas upper age limit is 50 years for candidates.
For female Candidates the lower age limit is 20 years and upper age limit is 55 years
Qualification requirement for STI candidates
For the Primary school level is Matriculation or secondary school certificate or equivalent is the minimum qualification requirement with at least second division.
For Elementary level Schools and classes, the minimum qualification required is an Intermediate or higher secondary certificate with at least a second division.
For High Schools/Classes or higher secondary level, the minimum requirement is B.A./BSc/BS with at least second division.
Locality of the STI Candidate
The candidate who is applying for an STI job must be local in the same union council/village/neighborhood. The school council committee will verify the residency of the candidate.
Marks criteria for STI job
1. Primary STI
Matric 55 Marks
Intermediate 15 Marks
B.A./BSc 15 Marks
Master 10 Marks
In case of BS ( 4 years degree ) 15+10=25
Interview 5 Marks
Interview comprises of 3 components, the subject Knowledge, Pedagogical skills and communication skills, the marks are 2,2,1 respectively.
2. Elementary STI
Matric 15 Marks
Intermediate 15 Marks
B.A./BSc 15 Marks
Master 10 Marks
In case of BS 15+10=25
Interview 5 Marks
Interview comprises of 3 components, the subject Knowledge, Pedagogical skills and communication skills, the marks are 2,2,1 respectively.
3. Secondary and Higher Secondary level STI
Matric 15 Marks
Intermediate 15 Marks
B.A./BSc 55 Marks
Master 10 Marks
In case of BS 55+10=65
Interview 5 Marks
Interview comprises of 3 components, the subject Knowledge, Pedagogical skills and communication skills, the marks are 2,2,1 respectively.
Timeline for recruitment of STIs
The advertisement date by the School education department for the STI job is 1st July 2021. Applications could be submitted till the 15th of July 2021 through the online Teacher Recruitment System ( OTRS ).
Till 19th of July pre-interview merit lists will be generated by the OTRS and will be displayed on OTRS.
On 19th of July 2021 the head teacher will arrange of meeting of school council recruitment committee.
The School recruitment Committee comprises of following members;

- Co-Chairperson of school council
- Parent member
- General member
- Teacher member
Interviews’ schedule of STI Candidates
For Higher secondary 20 July 2021 to 22 July 2021
For secondary level schools from 24 July to 26 July 2021
Elementary 28 to 30 July 2021
Primary 01 August to 03 Aug 2021.
Final procedure for STI job
The head teacher will upload marks of the candidates on OTRS and it will automatically generate the merit of the candidates till 4th of August 2021.
The eligible candidate for the STI job will be offered an internship letter and will join the school.
